POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Board of Directors of Farmers Cooperative Elevator Company (FCE) is seeking a new CEO/General Manager to provide leadership and future business directions to a seven (7) location co-op based in Hanley Falls, MN, 24 miles northeast of Marshall, Minnesota.

 

Farmers Cooperative Elevator is organized and operated on a cooperative basis, marketing grain and supplying merchandise and services to patrons.

 

Major products supplied to patrons are feed, seed, and farm supplies with average sales of $230 million over the last three years and an employee population of 38. Grain sales account for 95% of the business with feed sales at 4% and seed sales at 1%.

 

FCE consists of 7 different grain elevators located in SW Minnesota. Collectively they have 17 scales, 20 dump pits, a grain receiving capacity of 260,000 bushels per hour and 25 million bushels of storage. FCE also has access to multiple rail markets as well as truck markets that provide competitive arbitrage opportunities.

 

This position will appeal to a seasoned business executive with at least 15 years of solid operational performance who enjoys navigating the challenges associated with growers, marketplaces, and an ever-changing agriculture and grain industry.

 

Strong record of serving in a senior leadership capacity. Knowledge of the grain industry is strongly preferred.

 

Diversified ag retail industry experience desired. Strong knowledge and understanding of cooperative principles highly desired.

 

A senior executive who respects and values the spirit, history, and loyalty of a long-lived organization with deep community roots will be a strong fit for this role.

 

A successful business professional that intuitively understands an organizations’ potential and how to rebuild financial performance while leading an organization poised for growth while running cost-effective operations and guides the performance of the organizational leadership and front-line staff.

 

The ability to relate to rural members with integrity and high business ethics is necessary.
